Planning to be away from home for a while? Whether it’s a vacation or an extended trip, putting your mail on hold is a simple way to protect your personal information and avoid mail pile-up. Here’s how you can do it:
ONLINE:
- Head to the official USPS website and navigate to the “Hold Mail” section:
You will need to sign in with your USPS account. You can request that your mail be held for a minimum of 3 days and up to 30 days. - Set the Dates:
Choose the start and end dates for your hold request. It’s a good idea to give USPS at least 3 days’ notice, though you can request a hold as far in advance as 30 days. - Confirm and Submit:
Once you’ve set up the dates, you’ll receive a confirmation email. After the hold period, USPS will deliver all the mail collected while you were away.
IN-PERSON:
1. If you prefer, you can visit your local post office to fill out a hold mail request form.
By setting up a mail hold, you can have peace of mind while you’re away from home.
