On July 8, 2018, Directors Mortgage will celebrate our 20th Anniversary. Here’s a little more about our story and what we’re doing to celebrate.

On July 8, 1998, Mark J. Hanna registered Directors Mortgage Inc. in the State of Oregon and opened the first 2,375 sq. ft. office in Lake Oswego. 20 years later, Directors Mortgage continues to operate its headquarters out of the same location it was opened in Lake Oswego – now with a more than 21,000 sq. ft. headquarter, 29 branches, over 220 team members and lending in 5 states.

This year the company celebrates two decades of building a strong company making decisions focused on our clients’ mortgage needs and our client’s experience. Each growth milestone and decision for Directors Mortgage has always been focused on our founding principles of taking care of our, clients, team members and our community. 

Directors Mortgage’s first year as a mortgage broker set the tone for the company’s next two decades of growth. By the second year, the company become a direct lender, funding loans in-house. The expanded capabilities launched the company into new territory and Directors Mortgage opened a second location in Clackamas, Ore. and expanded operations in Lake Oswego.

With the future in mind, the leaders at Directors Mortgage have always worked to identify and seize opportunities that make sense for the right reasons. These strategic business decisions consistently give Directors Mortgage the momentum to make large strides. In 2006, Mark J. Hanna together with Kevin Hanna launched the wholesale division, USA Direct Funding, to expand Directors Mortgage’s exceptional in-house mortgage banking capabilities. And in 2009, Mark launched Market Appraisals, an appraisal management company, with the goal to better serve clients through the appraisal process.

If you ask Mark Hanna about the company’s success and getting through the recession he says, “We owe a lot of our company’s success to the hard work from our team members and great advice. Together, we have made a lot of intentional, smart decisions at the right times and for the right reasons.” Mindful of his lending practices and with a constant focus on integrity, Mark expanded and advanced the company even throughout the housing financial crisis and Great Recession. While many other mortgage companies were closing their doors, Directors Mortgage was growing – a true testament to their business planning and leadership.

The mission of the company goes deeper than providing mortgage services to clients – Directors Mortgage is dedicated to supporting communities through extensive philanthropic efforts. Recognized with several philanthropic awards from organizations and for many years in a row as one of the Top Philanthropic Companies by the Portland Business Journal, the company’s contributions and dedication to supporting communities is significant. “I’ve truly enjoyed 20 years of making a positive impact in the communities we serve. It’s about more than two decades of mortgages, it’s about the people and the difference we make together in our communities,” said Mark.

So, how is Directors Mortgage celebrating its 20th anniversary? By giving back to the community.

Directors Mortgage partnered with the Boys & Girls Club and Portland Trail Blazer C. J. McCollum to launch a special #DirectFan campaign. Every time someone tags #DirectFan and submits a photo, we get closer to our goal of 20,000 mentions to donate money to this great organization and their mission to “enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.”
